If reviews are to be believed, Apple is planning to create a secret AI lab known as ‘Vision Lab’ in Zurich and has been recruiting Artificial Intelligence professionals from Google.
The Zurich crew is tasked with creating AI’s models, in accordance to Financial Times, which claimed that the Cupertino giant has poached 36 specialists from Google over the past six years.
The researchers in Zurich will appear into the underlying tech that helps Microsoft-backed OpenAI’s ChatGPT as it seeks to enhance advanced Artificial Intelligence products, said the report. Apple is probable to introduce AI-powered features in its upcoming iOS 18.
Who all did Apple poach from Google AI?
John Giannandrea who previously helmed Google Brain is now phase of DeepMind and senior director of ML research at Apple. Another former Google employee joining Apple was once Ruoming Pang. The former head of Google’s Artificial Intelligence speech consciousness research is now main Apple’s Foundation Models team.
