Facebook Messenger gets HD photos, shared albums, support for larger files

Facebook Messenger is getting a bunch of new features, Meta announced today. First off, you can now ship “HD photos” in Messenger, via definitely choosing an image you choose to ship and then turning on the HD toggle which will now appear, before hitting Send.

HD pix have these days appeared in WhatsApp, and it’s incredible to see Meta’s other huge messaging app finally following suit. HD photos that you get hold of in Messenger will have an “HD” tag in the pinnacle proper corner, so you be aware of your eyes don’t seem to be deceiving you.

Next up, you can create shared albums with friends and family, the place you can add pictures and videos. To create such an album, in a crew chat choose a couple of photos, then tap Create album (or lengthy press a photo in the chat and faucet Create album). To add photographs and videos to an present album, tap Add to album. You can of course also rename albums if you want.

Everyone in a team chat can view, add, delete, and down load all the photographs and videos in a shared album. To go to a chat’s shared album(s), faucet on the group chat name, then tap Media, and you will see them there. This will be rolling out in the coming weeks.

Moving on, you can now add human beings to Messenger with a QR code. Everyone receives one, and you can scan it to add someone, or share yours by using a link.

Finally, Messenger has upped its dimension restrict for archives – you can now send archives up to 100MB. All major codecs are supported, consisting of Word, PDF, Excel, and zip – this has been a longstanding apparent missing feature, so it is genuinely a case of ‘better late than never’.

Sharing is Caring!
