WhatsApp to allow cross-app chat management soon

Chat interoperability is something WhatsApp has been working on for a while, and it looks like the feature is finally coming together. According to WABetaInfo, managing chats from third-party apps is a feature of the most recent WhatsApp beta version.

Interaction with other chatting applications will soon be simpler, though it’s unclear how it will facilitate cross-platform texting or which apps you’ll be able to use.

WhatsApp
The main purpose of this functionality is to enable users to completely stop data sharing between third-party chat programs. This is in line with the Digital Markets Act (DMA) of the EU, namely Article 7, which highlights user control over communication preferences and data sharing. Users can totally opt out of cross-platform messaging using this option.
Additionally, users may precisely manage which third-party apps are able to interact with WhatsApp thanks to this capability. This method promotes user autonomy by letting users personalize their communication preferences. Users can choose their degree of connectivity by choosing to interface only with reliable messaging services.
Third-party chats will become read-only if chat interoperability is off, though. This implies that while users can still view third-party conversations, they will not be able to send new messages through them. These conversations can also be deleted by users.
It’s unknown when the third-party conversation management feature will be added to WhatsApp’s stable version because it’s currently under development. However, since the beta version is already accessible, it shouldn’t take long for everyone to get widespread access to it.

Sharing is Caring!
